Lifelong fan awarded club honour...

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Marine announces that former treasurer Geoff Kewley has been appointed as the new Club President at its recently held AGM.

Kewley, 73, takes up his appointment for the new season and replaces outgoing President John Wildman.

Geoff Kewley has been a Marine fan since he was a schoolboy and after a break of a few years returned to Rossett Park and was appointed Treasurer in 1981, a post he held for 32 years until 2013.

Club Historian and former President Dave Wotherspoon said:

“This is a hugely deserved honour for Geoff. Treasurer is one of the toughest volunteer jobs at Marine and I reckon he did it for longer than any previous occupant of the job.

I am sure in his own quiet way he will continue to provide good advice for the Chairman and Committee.”

Marine Chairman Paul Leary added:

“The Management Committee unanimously recommended the appointment of Geoff Kewley as our new President and this was confirmed at the Club’s AGM at the beginning of this month.

Geoff’s commitment, loyalty and dedication to Marine Football Club for all of these years has earned him the highest of respect from his colleagues and many friends at Marine.

His appointment as our new President is just reward for what he has put into the Club as a fan, member of committee and as a Club officer.

We all congratulate Geoff on what is the ultimate position to hold at Marine Football Club”

New Marine President Geoff Kewley said:

“I am really, really pleased to have been appointed as Marine’s new President. It is a real honour for me and I am absolutely delighted and will continue to serve the Cub, as I have done in the past, in the years ahead.”
