Marine’s new look squad begins its league campaign at the Arriva Stadium this afternoon hoping to improve on a creditable seventh place finish last term.
Marine manager, Kevin Lynch, will be looking for an improvement in their home form which ultimately denied the Mariners a chance of the play offs last term.
Eastwood are no strangers to this League having won the title just five seasons ago. The Badgers suffered relegation from the Conference North in 2011/12 and will be looking for a swift return.
The players’ revolving door has seen the exit of several regulars including Neil Harvey, Aaron Rey, Joe Fowler and the Barnes twins but Marine fans will be cheering newcomers Danny Grannon, Michael Ordish, Marcus Carver and the returning trio of Karl Noon, Andy Fowler and Alan Burton.
Marine fans will also be able to welcome local gymnast and Olympic medal winner Dan Purvis who will be the Club’s guest of honour.
The first day of the season is always an exciting time for fans who can dream that this is their season for glory. By 5pm this afternoon expectations may be reviewed over a pint of frothy ale in the Marine Lounge.
