The clouds over Crosby parted to allow the sun to shine on the coastal town but it couldn’t inspire a win as the Mariners drew 1-1 with ten-man North Ferriby United after going 1-0 down - Luke Lofts and Crag Carney with the goals.
A David Webb challenge gifted the Villagers a penalty in the 11th minute but Martin Fearon saved Jamie Forrester’s attempt, which looked destined to hit the top-right corner of the net.
Marine had a penalty of their own in the 28th minute as Danny Mitchley was brought down in the box but the captain couldn’t convert the spot-kick and the effort was easily saved by Lewis Exall.
As the game went on, North Ferriby United looked more composed and Luke Lofts made it 1-0 to the Villagers just before half-time with a shot into the bottom-left corner of the goal.
North Ferriby United dominated portions of the second half but Marine had improved greatly from the first 45 minutes which led to a flurry of chances on goal.
Marine made good on their opportunities: Craig Carney found the back of the net with a sweet left-footed effort from the edge of the box in the 79th minute, shortly after the visitors went down to ten men after Dan Norton was shown a second yellow card for simulation.
