Quick Trio Of Goals Sink Drayton
Manager Carl Abbott made four changes to the starting eleven that played on Saturday; Nicky Porter (Captain), James Tindall- Bennett, Jud Ellis and Mitchell Evans replacing Melligan, Geddes, Roberts and Kalenda.
With the exodus of players the line up was greatly changed from the team that defeated Newcastle 5-2 in a League game on the 19th September.
Newcastle made eight changes from the Team that inflicted the first League defeat for Cleethorpes on Saturday - their winning goal (penalty)in that game being scored by James Lee the grandson of former MDTFC left back Tommy Lee.
Drayton started the game brightly, controlling the match in the early stages with their passing game.
On 25 minutes their pressure was rewarded when Nicky Porter blasted a shot towards the goal, which was blocked; from the rebound Jud Ellis produced a goal of outstanding class, lobbing the ball over the defenders and then striking the ball on the volley into the net to give Drayton the lead.
Drayton controlled the game for the bulk of the first half and then Newcastle equalised on 44 minutes when, following a mistake in the Drayton defence, Matt Thomas volleyed the ball, from 18 yards into the net. 1-1
45 Minutes - Jordan Cole put Newcastle in front - converting a 25 yards free kick with the last kick of the half.
On 52 minutes Matt Thomas headed in a further goal to give Newcastle a 3-1 lead, which proved to be the final score.
Newcastle then controlled the rest of the second half with Drayton rarely troubling the Newcastle defence.
Manager Carl Abbott will no doubt be looking to reinforce his playing squad ahead of Saturday's 'away'game at Carlton Town
