MDTFC Look To Shake Off The FA Cup 'Blues'

MDTFC take the 60 miles journey, on Saturday 15 September, for their 'Away' League game versus Prescot Cables; when we will be looking to get back to winning ways following our recent defeat in the FA Cup.

The FA Cup defeat does indeed have a massive impact of the finances of clubs such as MDTFC.

The absence of a game last Saturday, followed by the postponement of Tuesday's game versus Chasetown, has given many of our walking wounded an opportunity to recover from their injuries; although Will Wells is struggling to recover from his leg injury and must be considered a doubtful starter.

Manager Martyn Davies will be hoping that Stefan Walker will be able to play following his massive contribution in the recent victory versus Droylsden (who can forget his stunning goal) - unfortunately Stefan was not eligible to play in the FA Cup game versus Haughmond.

Although Prescot Cables lost their opening game they have subsequently been in a fine vein of form being unbeaten in the last 4 games. They also know how to find the net having scored 15 goals in the process - including a 6-1 demolition of Chasetown FC.

MDTFC will also need to adjust their play to suit the artificial playing surface at Volair Park; the stadium having enjoyed a recent £300,000 investment programme.

Early days in the season, but here are the League positions:

  • Prescot Cables - 5th (Played 5) - 10 Pts
  • MDTFC - 12th (Played 4) - 6 Pts
