The Colts traveled to South Leicester for their penultimate league fixture and suffered a disappointing defeat. With a number of key players absent they took only 18 players and although they started strongly a lacklustre performance in certain areas cost them the game. At the start they dominated play and made a number of good attacks and it was not long before an excellent run by George Thornton was stopped close to the line but James Stubbs was on hand to pick up and feed Alex Tilley who crashed over for a try with the conversion narrowly missed. South started to fight back and it quickly became evident that they would control the line out with Harborough unable to win the majority of their own ball. Possession and territory eventually told although the try that came was a result of poor defence around the breakdown. With the scores level Harborough lost a player to the sin bin and the resulting penalty made it 8-5. South added to this early in the second half leading 13-5 but the determination of Edd Marshall saw him power through the defence to touch down and reduce the deficit to 13-10. Within a few minutes it was Harborough again as Thornton broke from his own 22 and fed Joe Margetts who ran two thirds of the field leaving defenders in his wake to touch down for a try converted by Fraser Harrop. This put Harborough 17-13 in the lead and a positive result looked possible but from then on in the set piece, ball retention and defence was at times woeful and led to 19 unanswered points for South who ended up 32-17 victors. There were some excellent performances not least from those mentioned above together with Angus Whittall Sam Noble and Jack Roginski. There was also a promising debut from Ben Lord playing his first ever game in club rugby.
