Marlborough 51 Yeovil 28
Marlborough returned to winning ways with in a high scoring game against Somerset side Yeovil.
The game started well for the visitors with an early converted try but the remainder of the first half saw a good performance from Marlborough. Viliami Lotoahea
went in for a try in the corner after 10 minutes and strong running by Inosi Laqekoro
and Tevita Kiurutuba
gave both of them tries. A fine performance by the two half backs, Amori Nailago and Jake Williams
was always giving the side forward momentum and setting the home team up for some exciting play. Williams scored from a ruck and Garth Bari
added another try along with 2 conversions for a half time score of 29-7.
Thinking the job was done the home team allowed mistakes to creep into their game and some poor execution when in good positions. Yeovil made a real fight of the second half and some defensive mistakes plus an intercept try meant Yeovil scored 21 points in the second half. Captain Jamie Pittams
, returning from an injury lay off, scored from a ruck and Williams also scored with a another good break at a ruck. Lotoahea also scored again with a good finish to dive in the corner. Will Grant
added a try in the last lay for a final score of 51-28. There were good performances from Jack Lynd
and Sam Gouldbourn
again as the side now looks forward to a visit to Blandford this weekend.
