Walcot 17 - 47 Marlborough
Marlborough won the crucial final game of the season with a bonus point victory that ensured a play off place after finishing runners up in the league.
The side knew that they had to put in a good performance and the first 30 minutes saw them score 4 tries. The game didn't start as well though and an injury to influential prop Lemeki Moala meant an early call for Tim Aldridge who was bandaged up after a cut head the week before. The first try of the game came when a good pass from the back of a ruck fed Mitieli Vulikijapani who broke a tackle to score. Will Grant converted. Vulikijanpani scored again 5 minutes later after a break by James Farrell put him into space and he out ran the defence to score, again Grant converted. The third try was similar to the second, this time Vulikijanpani turned into provider and his break set up Joeli Radovu to run in. Marlborough knew they wanted a bonus point and it came on the half hour mark when a break by Ben Caravou, set up Radovu to continue the move, before Farrell was given a pass for him to score in the corner.
Walcot replied as with 2 tries of their own and made the half time score 28-10.
The scores continued to come in the second half and the next try was made by a good pass from Henry Webster to put Vulikijanpani in for a try in the corner. Another try was scored in the corner after a good break by Inosi Laqekoro and the ball was passed to Farrell who moved it onto Jack King and finally the ball got to Radovu to score. The tries were coming but the team still needed to defend some good Walcot attacks. There was strong defensive performances from Webster plus Laqekoro, Russ Westcott and player/coach Leo Tuliva. Walcot did score again but the final play of the game saw another score and after a good move involving Laqekoro and King, Farrell saw the gap and went over the line. Grant kicked the conversion again to round off a fine kicking game from him.
