WHAT IS IT??
The Bucks Cup is an annual tournament amongst the clubs in Buckinghamshire.
The first and second place winners will move onto the Regional Stage.
The winners of Regionals move up to Nationals.
Marlow Hockey Club won the U10 Bucks Cup for Boys and Girls last year!!!
WHO IS IT FOR?
There are separate tournaments for Girls U10s and Boys U10s.
Marlow will enter two girls teams, One stronger team of Year 5 girls team and one development team of mostly Year 4 girls.
It is a “7 aside” tournament, so we will be looking for 9-10 players for the Deveolpment team
WHEN IS IT?
We don’t have a date for it yet, but it was March 13th last year, so we are assuming the 12th or 19th is a likely date.
HOW DO WE GET INVOLVED?
There will be open tryouts on Sunday, January 22nd @3:30 pm
We will post timing and ask for availability on Pitchero as soon as we have pitch time organised.
Coaches will publish their squad selections 7-10 days after the tryouts.
WHAT IF I’M NEW TO HOCKEY AND/OR DON’T THINK I WILL MAKE THE TEAM?
First of all… Please come to the tryouts!!! they are open to everyone and will be a great opportunity to get better at hockey! Second of all… have confidence in yourself! We value effort and good listening skills more than who has the best V drag! Those are better long term determinants to hockey (and life) success anyway :-)
AND IF WE MAKE THE TEAM?
There will be 3-5 additional Sunday training sessions (times and dates tbd) to get the 2 teams ready for the Bucks Cup in March.
We ask that you are committed to attending the majority of the extra training sessions (and of course are available for the Bucks Cup) if you wish to be considered.
If you don’t think you will be able to commit to the tournament and extra sessions, you are still more than welcome to come to the initial tryouts, but please do let us know.
