What a finish!

Marlow 3's went into this game in good form with seven consecutive wins under their belt! The team knew that Milton Keynes would always be a challenging opposition having narrowly lost 1-0 in the home fixture earlier in the season. MK went ahead early doors scoring quickly. As Marlow settled into the game the tables turned and the team forced MK back into their defensive half for a significant period of the first half. With increasing pressure Marlow secured a penalty corner which was slipped left to Tess who calmly converted it into a goal.
With things square Marlow continued to pressurise the MK defenders however MK, fast on the break and managed to secure their second goal taking them into the lead once more. Undeterred the mighty reds continued to battle for every ball placing a good press on MK and engaged in some impressive inter-linkage play between the defensive, midfield and forward lines transferring the ball well and maintaining possession. Winning another penalty corner Jenny connected well with the ball at the top of the circle finding space through the MK defense past the right foot of their goalkeeper - goal number two for Marlow!
Early in the second half MK performed a well drilled and impressive penalty corner routine with one of their players tipping the ball in at full stretch in on the left post taking the game to 3-2. Marlow continued to battle on and were unlucky to convert a number of chances in the second half as the game opened up. Spurred on by their hold on the game MK also had chances in the Marlow defensive circle, the Marlow defence did a sterling job withstanding the MK attack, holding MK to just a one goal lead.
34 minutes into the second half MK were fairly confident that they had managed to kill the game and were going to take away 3 points, unfortunately for them Marlow 3's had other plans! In the dying seconds of the game a crash ball was made from the Marlow defensive half to the Marlow forwards who were looking to stretch the MK defence. A few short sharp passes later a lovely 2v1 sent the ball past the final MK defender to Emma who picked it up just inside the circle. Remaining calm, with just six seconds left on the clock Emma took on the MK goalkeeper and coolly scored drawing the game 3-3. As you can imagine the celebrations from the mighty Marlow 3's were euphoric!
Getting back into the game three times is no mean feat, and the 3's showed true character to draw with MK in the dying seconds of the game. This result takes the 3's to second in the table; next week Marlow 3's take on Bicester at Bisham Abbey in a 1st v 2nd 'Clash of the Titans' game!
POM: Emma P and special mentions to Flo and Tess!
