A missed opportunity for 3 points ...
Match Report by Claire Thorpe
It was an early start for the last away match of the season for the feisty fives.
Marlow won the push back to start the match. The plan was to start slowly and keep hold of the ball. Sadly South Bucks had not listened to the Marlow team talk and had other ideas. They started hard, winning possession and putting Marlow under pressure from the off.
Marlow defence put in some solid play and kept working the ball out of the D. Some great saves by Lisa Arnold and Marlow began to settle and work the ball up the pitch.
South Bucks were proving to be a tricky opposition, they did some great interceptions and got down low and picked up lots of Marlow's balls forward.
Marlow continued to battle on, slowly making progress and gradually started to put South Bucks under pressure. By half time Marlow had started to find form. Sarah Roberts had some great drives into the D with support from Lisa King. Eventually Marlow won a short corner but were unable to convert. By half time Marlow was starting to take control and things started to look more positive.
Captain Emma gave Marlow a strong talking to at half time; silly mistakes were letting Marlow down.
The second half started well with Marlow picking the ball up from the push back. Some good forward play followed and Kathryn made some great runs up the right wing. Marlow were having some good play into the D but still no goals.
Marlow were awarded two further short corners, one taken by Anna and the other by Claire but South Bucks continued to put up a strong defence. Time was running out for Marlow .....
Never a team to give up, the feisty fives upped the pace and pressure. Despite the onslaught from Marlow the South Bucks defence would not give up and sadly the whistle blew for the end of the match with the score line still goalless.
Joint Man of the match Lisa King and Emma Horan for solid defending and great support.
