On a suprisingly cold but sunny Saturday morning the U10 girls revisted Risborough.
The previous encounter ended in a 4-2 reverse for Marlow but we started in a confident mood after some recent good performances.
With Risborough having some extra players a 9 a side game was agreed Marlow using 1 opposition player.
In previous games Marlow have struggled to play in the opposing half so a change of tactics saw Rosie Sophie and Scarlett in midfield with Erin upfront. No Lou meant a new defensive partnership of Tiggy and Maddi.
The first half started with some good play from Risborough with the Marlow girls getting used to their new positions.
Some excellent defending at a couple of corners was followed by a great save from JK.
Marlow grew into the game and a good breakaway saw a turn and shot by Erin go close.
Grace was then involed in a collision with Rosie and had to come of meaning we were playing with 2 opposing players.
It was then Risborough's turn to break away and a low shot beat JK to make it 1-0
Marlow did not let their heads go down, marshalled by Rosie in midfield we began to dominate the game and a nice though ball saw Erin race onto goal and a nice low left footed shot made the game 1-1.Erin's first goal for the club.
During the half time interval Jeff Kisbee came from left field with the idea of Sophie playing from the back so Tiggy pushed forward with sophie slotted in at left back.
This proved to be inspired Sophie battled hard winning everthing allowing Marlow to play the second half mostly in the opposition half.
A shot from Sophie from the half way line almost beat the keeper.
Rosie was also unlucky with a shot from the edge of the area.
JK came out of goal and swapped with Erin who never touched the ball, showing how in command we were.
Unfortunately the girls were beaten by the final whistle, and a 1-1 draw was applauded by everyone.
The opposition voted for our Number 4 Tiggy but pointed at Maddi who was wearing 6 (I get them confused as well) as our player of the match.
I also would like to vote my player of the match as Sophie Smythe for a great performance for the team.
