A point gained or two points lost?

Well with results going our way then it has to be regarded as a gain and a deserved one at that. Park created and missed opportunities that they will rue this morning but its also true to say that United had good opportunities so a draw is probably a fair reflection of the match.

It’s a also fair to say that we find ourselves third in the table with games in hand to take us into a coveted promotion spot despite not having really performed at anywhere near potential capacity so far this season. This football club is notorious for its strong second half of the season performances and with news that Nick Flint will soon be fit to return along with the uplifting news that former skipper Tristan Heywood is set to return to the club the second half of the season could provide an eventful ride. Rumour abounds this football club and many are aware that former key players are hovering perhaps to return and maybe sooner rather than later, if so, then we really will have lift off. Not that this has any implications to our existing squad as they are aware we need additional players and the stronger the better including one or two who can add that little extra that is a vital ingredient of any successful team.

A remarkable season so far from South Reading who have recorded their 38th consecutive league victory since their reformation. Ok it’s at the lower level and relatively speaking it is an extremely low level and some of their playing personnel could and possibly should be playing at that higher level nonetheless it is a marvellous achievement and we congratulate them for that despite hoping that next time we meet we will be in a better position to end that winning run.

Of course the place that South Reading and other teams are striving for is a place we have visited and excelled in. We find ourselves, currently, on the outside looking in but that’s not a problem as our pedigree tells us that this is just a temporary disposition and our place at the top table awaits us for when we return. Under Gary’s leadership I’m convinced that will be sooner rather than later.

So on to Highmoor for our final match before the Xmas break it will be good to gain some reward on the day to take us into the second half of the season well placed, well prepared and strengthened.
