The 2's returned from their 2nd trip to Newcastle in as many weeks with a strong draw against the league leaders
A week after a successful trip to Newcastle against 2nd place team, MFHC 2's travelled to the league leaders with a young side knowing that a win would put them back amongst the leaders.
Missing a couple of experienced players meant a debut for JJ Burns up from the 3's, Carl Worrall moving into the middle of the park and Connor Watson returning up front after his 2 goals last week.
First half started with WBTHC on the attack however Marton were always dangerous on the break with both forwards finding plenty of space down the flanks.
Breakthrough came as Conner received the ball down the left, cut back in side before picking out Leigh Brown at the top of the 25 who spotted the run of Carl Worrall from the midfield before slipping a pass down the side of the defender into Carl's path who finished with a first time shot.
Pattern of play returned to wave after wave of home attacks being repelled by the excellent back 3, with Phil Henderson and Richie Bertrem outstanding. Eventually one of the attacks produced a short corner which was well finished moments before the half time whistle.
Second half continued in the same vain as the first half with some outstanding performances from a number of WBTHC players However Marton stayed strong in the tackle, with the work rate from all players the outstanding team performance.
We got slightly lucky with 2 mins remaining when James Bains, yet again working back diverted a cross into the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out for an earlier offence.
MOM was awarded to Phil Henderson who had a fantastic game, although Richie Bertrum continues to excel in his new position.
