Great end to the season

Under 10’s
U10s were up in Hull this morning for the Ionians festival. In dreadful conditions and with most other teams abandoning their fixtures. Matlock battled on firstly running York then Pontefract very close and finishing the festival against Old Brodlians. They show great determination and teamwork throughout.

Under 13’s
U13s played against West Bridgford who were on tour. Possibly due to their tour exhaustion the WB boys struggled to cope with the defensive pressure exerted by Matlock, who won many turnovers that led to strong runs out wide and through the middle. The first half finished 30-0.
As previously agreed with the WB coaches the players mixed into 'Colours' and 'Whites' teams, and played a Barbarians styled half where the referee was a little bit lenient with knock ons to favour running and passing rugby from both sides.
The teams were very balanced, and players from both clubs passed to and supported team mates that were rivals 10 minutes ago. A few tries were scored from both sides, with rugby the winner in the end.
A great way to end what has been a great season.

Under 14’s
U14s couldn't quite make it a clean sweep, very close game and camped in Scunthorpe's 22 for a lot of the last 10 minutes but couldn't quite get over the line. Final score 12-19. Very proud of the boys though, fought till the end

Under 15’s
33-5 Chesterfield
A solid win to round of a very satisfying season. Conditions were not the best, but determination to run the ball saw generally good hands for passing (more of a challenge keeping hold in the tackle).
A chance to move players around a bit with some real positive outcomes. So many good moments (a few howlers which we don’t need to mention) - we never single anyone out but Max Atkinson running hard with his hands on the ball, reflected the overall commitment to the cause. ?
