Obituaries

Derek Bailey and Malcolm Macfadyen

Sadly two of our former players passed away during January; both were excellent club men during the 1950's and 60's.

Malcolm, "Mac" to almost everybody, was a flying winger for the Old Baileans. He was a regular first XV player scoring many tries. He also represented Derbyshire on numerous occasions. Mac remained a keen supporter and until his illness regularly attended matches and with his mate, prop Dick Standen, attended our VP luncheons.

Derek, with his late wife Barbara, was also a keen supporter of the club doing a considerable amount for the Old Baileans both on and off the field. He was a second row of note in the 1950's.

Both men will be remembered as stalwarts of the club. We all send our sympathy and condolences to both families.

John Lowry
