Matson lost in the final 4-2 to a very very big Newport HSOB side.
Everything Matson have been practising in training especially the touch & getting the ball wide came off on Sunday, they also tackled their hearts out.
Beating Clifton 2-0 in the 1st game, Clifton kept Matson their line for the 1st half, 2nd half Matson kept the ball alive and got it wide to score 2 tries.
Drew the n2nd game against a good Dings side 1-1 but again tackled everything and could have won it
Beat Llandaff 4-0 with some great open play and good turn over's
Beat Chippenham 7-0, the Matson boys were outstanding in all aspects of the game. All the coaches from the other teams commented on how good the passing and support play was.
Unfortunately Matson lost hooker Sam Newman with a fractured wrist & fly half Ethan with an ankle injury, Matson had already lost centre Jake Fox with an Achilles injury Saturday morning. After the Chippenham game we then had an hour break which lost Matson all their momentum, Matson still had to play Cleve but some of the lads were cold wet and tired and wanted to go home. The lads managed to hold on for a draw in the Cleve game. Cleve scored a disputed try in the corner in the final play.
Matson had made it to the final and played the biggest 10 year olds we have ever seen!
Matson went 2-0 down after 5 minutes and a stuffing was on the cards but the players who came in showed great character and belief to score and get to half time. Newport scored and then Matson scored to make it 3-2 with a few minutes to go but missed tackles saw Newport score and Matson lost 4-2.
All coaches and parents are extremely proud of the lads and turned out to be the longest fetival ever!!
The future is Bright! it's Black & White
