Welcome to Maulden Netball Club

Maulden Netball Club was founded by two parents in 1997 with a single team training on “the” court at Maulden Lower School. Since then, the club has grown considerably in size and we now have over one hundred girls aged between 9 – 17 years regularly competing in the Bedford and District League and tournaments all over the country.

We cater for children wishing to play Netball in a competitive League environment, as well as a fun way to stay fit, from the age of 9 years (school year 5) until 18+ years. At age 11 years (school year 7), the club follows England Netball ruling that the sport is for girls, though for the High 5s game played in Bedfordshire by under 7’s, boys are invited to take part. Historically, not many boys choose to join the club.

The Club is run by a voluntary management committee supported by volunteer coaches and umpires. We have always prided ourselves on running with voluntary help rather than employing coaching personnel. All of our year groups are coached by coaches qualified to or working towards Level 1 status. Four of our coaches are qualified to Level 2. Our voluntary approach has brought us lots of success over the years and we intend continuing in this spirit for as long as possible.
Training takes place every Saturday morning at Redborne Upper School in Ampthill at the beginning of September until early December with a break over Christmas and New Year. Training resumes again in early January and ends at Easter.

Club Registration takes place annually each September and we ask for a completed registration form to provide us with your child’s personal details, medical history and emergency contact details. The registration fee includes the cost of hiring the Redborne courts each week, trophies and playing kit for the girls, course fees for volunteers wishing to gain a coaching or umpiring qualification, umpiring costs which are currently £3.50 per league game, the league registration fee for entry into Bedford and District Netball League and the cost of the Presentations Celebration at the end of the season.
We encourage your support in fundraising for the Club during the year and the Club would be pleased with any fund raising ideas or offers of help you can give.

Every season, the Club enters teams into the Bedford and District Netball Leagues. Youth League, for girls in school years 9 – 11 runs between early September and March/April each year with breaks for Christmas and half terms. Junior League for girls in school years 5 – 8 runs from late February until mid May. Older girls have continued into the adult league. All League matches take place at the Bunyan Centre, Mile Road, Bedford.

Over the years, teams have won league divisions and competitions relative to their age groups. Some girls have progressed to play for the County and a couple made it through to Mavericks Super League and trials for England. At the time of writing, we are running fifteen teams from year 5 to seniors.

We hope you have found this information useful and would like to thank you for your interest in our Club.
