I'm sad to say that long time member, player and treasurer of MVRFC, not to mention friend, Neil 'Meggs' Metheringham, died today after a valiant battle with liver cancer. Whilst at times Megs could seem like a difficult bloke to deal with, he only ever had the best interests of the club in mind and never shied away from dealing with the difficult issues and should be remembered for his many years of, often thankless, service and as a stalwart Vale man. His commitment and loyalty to the club were beyond question and MVRFC and myself personally will miss him tremendously. My condolences, and those of the whole club, go to his wife, Monica, and to his family in this difficult time. I'm raising a glass to my friend tonight, and hope all MVRFC members will join me in my toast to the cantankerous bugger who i will very much miss.
