On the first day of the London Olympics, forty athletes met in North London and produced a fantastic display of skill, passion and true grit.

Rugby League may not be an Olympic sport (yet), but those who play it are true Olympians - and none more so than this year's Dragons Under 16 team.

Having won the 9s competition at the start of the season and then taking the Challenge Cup final in style, the squad arrived at the home of London Skolars with the opportunity to complete a never before completed treble - and that's exactly what they did.

All credit to a powerful and skilled Croydon Hurricanes side who had completed the League as minor champions (finishing top of the league). However, the Dragons proved today that when they are on a good day they are unstoppable at this age group.

Tries for the Dragons came from Jamie Gillen, Richard Harris, Tom Josling and Alfie Seager, with conversions from Joe Keyes.

So, a big 'well done' to all of the twenty who were selected for today's game (all of whom played a major part in the game) and thanks also to Lewis Richards and Robert Everden who came along and supported the team - they showed the spirit that has prevailed from the whole squad throughout the season and who contributed so much to getting us into the playoffs.

Time now to sit back and enjoy the win, the memories of a really successful season and the warm glow of some great Rugby played with some really great mates.
