U18 squad report back for training
“The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary.”
Medway Dragons’ U18 squad report back for training this Thursday 2 Feb 12 as they start to prepare for this year’s London Youth League competition. After the successful launch day on Saturday 28 Jan 12 it’s now time for both players and coaches to get down to some hard work.
The new season sees some changes in both the coaching and playing staff. Scott Collier moves into the Head Coach position, whilst Alistair Stewart remains with the squad to provide continuity. Tim Holland comes in from last year’s Grand Final Winning U12 squad, whilst the experienced Mo O’Brien moves the other way to assist the new U12 players with the big step up to Junior League rugby. On the playing side a large cohort of 2011 U18 players make the move to Open Age, with a similar number coming up from last year’s U16 squad.
Assistant Coach Tim Holland said, “I am looking forward to the challenge of working with this experienced group of players for the first time. I have been watching many of them play since their first taste of rugby league as U12s with Kent Ravens, and then as U13s in the Dragons’ 2008 Foundation Season. I hope that I can help all the players to continue to enjoy their rugby and, if that results in success by the end of the season, that would be a huge bonus.”
Medway Dragons’ U18 squad will train at the Garrison on Thursdays at 1930, and on Saturdays at 1300, in preparation for the London Nines competition at Greenwich Admirals RLFC on Saturday 3 Mar 12.
Training is cancelled 4 Feb 12 due to frozen pitches.
