A London Representative team, featuring 8 Dragons, scored a historic, first ever victory over Yorkshire in the National Carnival Under 14in Sheffield

A long programme of RFL Regional Player Development Centre (RPDC) training sessions at the excellent Crown Woods College in Eltham came to a climax at the RFL Under 14 National Carnival in Sheffield.

8 players from Medway Dragons made selection into the squad representing London in four matches versus Regions from all across Great Britain.

First up was The North East who were not strong enough for the lads from London and were despatched with a good performance.

Next came Yorkshire who have dominated the competition since it began. Eyes were opened as the team from London & The South dominated in the forwards and out-muscled the Northern team. A huge hit from Mitchell Stone lifted the spirits of the team who realised that they could do it and put in a great team effort to win 10-6.

The North West (Lancashire & Cheshire) brought the boys back down to earth with a fierce performance. The lessons learned here were put to good use as the final game against The Midlands was a great performance, London & The South running away with it , including two tries from, Roshaine Johnson.

Mark Roughsedge and Robbie Stone coached the team and played an integral part in the success. There was a lot of recognition from the watching talent scouts and Heads of Youth from around the UK.

Progress noted.

Medway Dragons Head Coach said 'RPDC has been a great success this year. Improvements were made to an already good programme and our players and coaches have thrived in the environment. Training with high quality players each week provides a reakl opportunity to develop and become a good player'

'We are very proud of all the lads and coaches who have worked hard to be part of the success, it was a real privilege to be there and see the first ever victory over Yorkshire. It is also important to recognise the sacrifice made by parents and family members to get to the centre week in, week out. People have to move things around, squeeze the budget, work hard on diaries etc to make it all work. I am sure that the efforts have been worth it for every one'.
