6 wicket win over Malton & Old Malton
Malton & Old Malton 143-9
Melbourne won the toss and put Malton & Old Malton in to bat on a day which would see many in the York Vale League not able to play due to unfit pitches. Ben Charlton and Brian Underwood opened the bowling, however with Brookshaw finding the boundaries from the off with 10 off the first over and Fraser supporting well it wasn't until the 20th over that the first wicket fell when Nick Boyd caught Fraser off the bowling of Ben Thompson. Boyd also took a catch off the bowling of Barlow to dismiss Watson for 1. With M & OM on 116 the crucial wicket of Brookshaw was taken when Oliver Steels in his second game of the season as replacement wicket keeper for an injured Matt Beevers caught Brookshaw off the bowling of Alex Barlow. Douthwaite made an error and was run out when on 2. S Varey made 16 before being caught by Thompson off the bowling of Underwood in the 34th over. Underwood then went on to dismiss both Raines and Freer both caught and bowled. The 38th over saw G Ulliyott run out and his father Simon bowled the following over by Jamie Kirby. Malton finished the 40 overs with W Cullen on 7 not out and a total of 143
Melbourne bowling: B Underwood 11-2-34-3, A Barlow 4-0-20-2, B Thompson 5-1-19-1, J Kirby 7-0-24-1
In reply Melbourne lost the early wicket of Ben Thompson to one of many good balls from Oliver Varey. Oliver Steels joined Malcolm Harrison at the crease and the two added a good 52 before Steels was caught off the bowling of G Ulliyott. Nick Boyd could not find the form of the previous week and only made 2 before being caught by the keeper off the bowling of Ulliyott. Ian Kirby playing his 2nd game of the season for Melbourne after a 7 year break from cricket went straight for the jugular hitting a quick 34 before being bowled by Varey, with Melbourne on 122 for 4 it was left for Alex Barlow to join Harrison to finish the game off. Barlow finishing on 10 not out and Harrison on 63 not out.
