What a great turn out to the end of season awards ceremonies. Our great success in the recruitment of players this season was on show for all to see

We come to the end of yet another season for Mellish minis and juniors. As is always the case we have travelled throughout the three counties and enjoyed every minute of our great sport and represented the club with pride.
The reason for our success is down to the hard work of all the coaches. All these people give up their time to help Mellish rugby club thrive at junior level. We have had a massive influx of new players this season and even in the last two weeks, we have had new players turning up looking at playing next year. We have 200 registered players at the moment and our hope as coaches is that they will progress and become senior players at Mellish.
A lot of the success for this season’s influx of new players is down to our close links with local schools. We are fast becoming the club of choice within the area due to the great family atmosphere. We would also like to thank the RFU community coaching staff for all the help they have given us this year. With their support I am sure we can continue to grow and increase the membership.
This season has been one of our best for many years with every team winning lots of games. The standard has been very good but as is always the case we have been humble in victory and defeat. I have been very lucky to get round and watch all the teams both home and away and the amount of players turning up for training on wet and windy Wednesday nights is brilliant. We have had to split the training times to get all the teams space on a Wednesday nights but this a headache we are happy to have. All the teams are looking at training over the summer to get ready for next season so everyone please spread the word that we will continuing over the summer on Wednesday evenings. If you want to come along please do we will be happy to welcome you.
We would like to thank all the senior committee for their hard work in providing us with these great facilities. We are very lucky to have four pitches to play on and a great club house. This makes running so many junior teams possible at Mellish. Also we would like to invite you all to watch us any Sunday at training or matches. We are now very lucky to have lots of ex-players helping out but we are always on the lookout for new blood in the junior section.

Junior Chairman.
