Tigers tamed by a sucker punch
late winner take all 3 points for Beffro
If previous games versus Aberffraw were anything to go by… this game was no different.
From the start both teams cancelled each other out with both defence giving the forwards nothing much to work off. Both teams had half chances with the final ball eluding the forwards.
Gethin Davies, Dave Roberts and Callum Davidson worked hard and broke down Beffro’s attacks. Tim Evans and Ryan Wood were creating chances down both wings but the beffro full back’s had to be on their game.
As half time approached Beffro had half a chance when the tigers defence failed to clear a cross and the ball fell to Andrew Jones who smashed the ball towards the bottom corner only for Lee Moore to produce a world class save. Dion Williams, Callum Byng and the two Tom’s (Davies and Scorer) did a stern job to keep Andrew and Rich p’doing’ Roberts quiet.
Half time Menai Bridge Tigers 0 – 0 Aberffraw.
Second half started the same with Andy Wannop going close with a shot…
As the game went on, it always looked like one goal would win it.
62 mins – Dave Roberts replaced by Owain Roberts
68mins – Gethin Davies replaced by Callum Graves
A free kick from just on the half way line taken by Callum Graves was floated into the box and was met by Ryan Wood who’s header beat the beffro keeper for it only to go the wrong side of the post.
79 mins – Andy Wannop replaced by Gareth Barker
In the final few minutes both teams pushed for the winner and in the 89 minute a break from beffro had Rich Roberts through out wide and as he cut inside the box he unleashed a shot that rocketed into the bottom corner this was a major disappointment of all the players and the supporters of the Tigers.
There was only enough time to take the kick off before the ref blew for full time.
Overall I would say a brilliant battle off the lads, but a massive sucker punch at the end of the game.
Man of the Match – Lee Moore
