Gaz and Ry bag hat-tricks
The tigers welcomed Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs Res to the Bridge for the first ever match between the two sides.
After losing to Bro Goronwy last game before the Xmas and New Year Break we knew we needed to put in a steady performance.
Once the pitch was passed playable after an early morning inspection, the lads were up for it.
Missing two players today with club captain Richard Evans (ill) and Tom Davies (unavailable) we had one of if not the strongest squad’s we have been able name so far this season.
We knew the pitch would cut up and be a bit sticky as the game went on, but from a spectator’s point of view the 1st half was one of the best 45 mins of football we have played this season.
After a couple of minutes Gareth Barker turn the Centre half and smashed the ball passed the keeper only to see it smack the post and go out for a goal kick.
On ten minutes Tom Parry took a free kick inside our own half and it was launched into the Blaenau half and Gaz Barker took one touch and volleyed the ball past the keeper to make it 1 -0.
Back four of Owain Roberts, Dale Owens, Tom Parry and Tom Scorer were controlling everything and from a keeper’s point Lee Moore had a very quiet start to the game.
A corner on 24 mins was whipped to the far post were Gethin Davies rose above everyone and headed the ball back across goal for the poacher ‘Gaz Barker’ to smash the ball into the back of the net.
Jamie Aston, Gethin Davies and Callum Davidson were dominating the midfield and at every opportunity getting the ball wide to Ryan Wood and Tim Evans who exploited the full backs.
Gareth Barker completed his 19 min hat trick on 29 mins when Owain Roberts broke down the right and whipped in a telling cross that Gaz beat the keeper to it and slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Some amazing one touch football off the lads but Jamie Aston in on goal and from the edge of the box he placed the ball into the back of the net to score his first goal for the club (hopefully more to come).
HALF TIME – TIGERS 4 – 0 BLAENAU FFESTINIOG
Second half started with a bang when we lost Callum Davidson to a shoulder injury. Call was replaced by Dave Roberts.
We continued to work the ball well but with the pitch cutting up it got harder and harder to play the ball on the floor.
66 mins – Gareth Barker and Jamie Aston were replaced by Guy Hughes (much needed game time after missing 3 months) and Dion Williams.
69 mins a through ball from Guy Hughes put Ryan Wood in on goal and placed the ball under the out rushing keeper only for the full back to hook the ball off the line but as the ball came down Ryan headed the ball into the back of the net.
78 mins Owain Roberts broke down the right and whipped the ball into the box and Ryan was first to the ball and slotted the ball in the net.
85 mins Ryan completed his 16 mins hat-trick when he pounced on a half chance.
