The League Cup Under 11’s Final was won by Menston Rangers.
The game was played in very warm weather and started at a frenetic pace with the opening 10 minutes being fairly even, with neither side making too much headway as one would expect in a final. Menston then started to settle down and started to play a shorter, crisper passing style that had served them well all season.
A succession of corners finally paid off when Menston took a deserved lead through the referee’s Man of the Match, Ethan L. An excellent delivery from Harry B was met with a powerful header to put Menston 1-0 up. From then on, Menston rarely looked in trouble with the opposition keeper making a couple of excellent saves before a copycat goal for Menston and Ethan made it 2-0.
Once Marc A had made it 3-0 before half time the cup looked like it was heading to Menston. The opposition dug deep but it was Menston who scored first in the second half with an Oscar W goal from close range and Theo B scored an absolute rocket into the top corner to seal an emphatic 5-0 win.
The cup win capped off a very successful season for the Under 11’s.Overall a very good, balanced and sporting display from Jamie & Paul’s team, who now look forward to the new season…
