MERTHYR RFC: THE IRONMEN:

TREDEGAR 19 V MERTHYR 5

by

After a 7 week lay off due to the weather Merthyr travelled to a wet and windy Tredegar in what turned out to be a physical encounter.

The scoreline didn't reflect on the actual game the difference being Tredegar took their chances. Merthyr gifted them two tries but to their credit the young ironmen never gave up and dominated for long periods throughout the game and could have easily won this encounter theirselves. Leading from the front captain Ben Warren and his forwards dominated their oppostion in all areas with also excellent performances from James Youde and Rhys Collison. Missing a couple of backs Merthyr played a few players out of position and to their credit they all played their part in what was tricky conditions. Merthyrs try scorer on the day was the impressive Sam Davies
