After dominating the first half and leading by 20 points the young ironmen made several changes to their large squad, this seemed to spur Treharris on and for most of the second half Treharris dominated scoring some good tries in the process. With only 5 minutes left Treharris led 26-22 and was on course to beat the young ironmen but to their credit Merthyr never gave up and leading from the front captain Ben Warren urging his players on seemed to fire up Merthyr and for all the boys hard work and determination were rewarded with 2 late tries to seal victory.
