Academy Graduates - Current First Team Players
Marcus Griffiths:
Joined the Academy in 2006/07 as part of the league and Welsh Youth Cup winning u19s squad; also represented Wales u18s. 2007/08 saw Marcus involved mainly as a first team squad member, and again representing Wales u18s as captain. Established himself as a regular First team player in 2008/09.
Matthew Harris:
The Treharris based midfielder joined the Academy in 2005 from Swansea City going on to win the u18s 'player of the year' award. Part of the youth treble winning 2006/07 playing an important role with both the u18s and u19s squads. Also made his first team debut and represented Wales u18s in 2006/07. Matthew established himself as a first team regular in 2007/08 winning the 'player of the year' award. Joined Neath at the beginning of the 2009/10 season spending part of the season on loan at Welsh League 1 side Afan Lido. Returned to the club ahead of the 2010/11 season.
Joe Leahy:
Joined the Academy in 2010/11 from Newport County. Made his first team debut in February 2011. In 2011/12, Joe finished the season as u19s 'Top Goalscorer' having also established himself firmly within the first team squad.
Mike Ley:
Joined the Academy in 2009/10 from local league side Rhiwbina (Cardiff). Former Wales u18s international goalkeeper was awarded youth team 'Players Player of the Year' in 2010/11. Made his first team debut in September 2011.
