History

Formed in the summer of 2007 we won the CMS Yorkshire League Division 4 title promoting us up two divisions into Division 2. Ex-professional coach and rugby players such as Tony and Paul Handforth attracted and developed the players into what could have been a Yorkshire Premier League team. These quality players slowly drifted out at the back end of the season due to work commitments and opportunities to play for bigger teams.

The following year saw us finish in the playoffs with a less experienced team and losing by the smallest of margins against Middleton in the Semi Finals. Terry Crossthwaite was the coach.
Reaching the playoffs still made us eligible for promotion and saw us playing at the dizzy heights of Division 1.

2009/10 was the Royals' toughest year in the club's history. Inexperience, lack of player commitment and injuries at many times nearly caused the curtains to be drawn, but Tony Barik (the coach), the committee and the players held strong.

Season 2010/11 was another solid year for the Royals when we finished second in the CMS Yorkshire League Division 3.

During the summer of 2011 our application to join the Pennine League was successful and we were allocated to Division 3. The club appointed Paul Handforth and Reece Willshaw to steer the ship in the new era. They made an immediate impact as we went on to win the league title and succomb to a glorious defeat to Thornhill Trojans in the final of the Pennine League Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy at Dewsbury Rams RLFC. Off the field the club were proud to receive the BARLA Best Club Media award.

The club were promoted two divisions to Division 1 for the 2012/13 season.
