Methley Royals `A’ team went down to a 26-6 defeat at Hunslet Old Boys `A’ in last night’s friendly fixture.
The Royals looked destined for a hammering when the Boys coasted to a 22-0 interval lead with tries by Adam Walker, Ryan Campbell, Ryan Bew and Ricky Flint, three of which Rocky Price converted.
Methley, however, showed great resolve to hit back, with the likes of stand-off Rob Wright, hooker Joel Brown, props Richard Scott and Jack Taylor and second rows Adam Duce and Jamie Wainwright-Call impressing, alongside centre Jamie Matthews, wingers Stephen Garfitt and Brenton Johnson, full back Shaun Ordash and benchmen Jack Taylor and Chris Hartley.
Scrum-half Jake Dickinson converted his try early in the second period to open the Royals’ account, but Hunslet had the last word when Danny Rafferty nipped over.
