Jim Coopers view on FA decision to reject Enfield Towns appeal re points deduction for fielding an ineligible player. Pic courtesy of Andy Nunn.

It would appear that the play off saga has concluded and we will take the place of Enfield Town FC after their appeal against the F.A. was unsuccessful after being found guilty of fielding an illegible player

This situation was very unfortunate for all concerned with ETFC but especially for the management and players who at the end of the season had finished in fifth place thus ordinarily providing them with the opportunity to gain promotion.

I would like to commend ETFC on how they have dealt with the whole scenario. Quite rightly they had a right of appeal against the F.A decision. Although it has delayed the play offs, ETFC cannot be deemed to be responsible for this. It was their right to appeal and could quite easily have decided to appeal the Ryman leagues decision to deduct three points. This would obviously have delayed the play off games even further but to their credit, they decided not to continue with this appeal so that the league can finish its season and prevent any further delay to the other clubs involved.

Of course ETFC loss has meant that we have been given a massive opportunity to progress to the Vanarama league through this season's play offs. We shall have to visit the highly successful (double winners) and multi talented Hendon FC. Hendon I believe have now gone 24 games unbeaten in any competition so to most they will surely start as the favourites but as we have seen from both the Ryman North and South play off winners, the team which finishes the highest doesn't necessarily mean that they will go all the way. They are however a side that just does not know how to lose but refuse to let anything stand in their way of success. We will certainly have to be at our very best to win, it is made more difficult as we are without Ric Joseph and Simon Mur who have already gone away on holiday but the squad is strong and we will utilise those who are available for the game.
