The Met face Slough Town in a pre season game tomorrow night. We had a squad update from Gavin Macpherson (pictured).

I've been really pleased with the boys. Their attitude has been excellent and they've approached every game in the right way.

You'd rather win in pre season but I'm focussing more on how the players apply themselves both as a group and as individuals. If we win and that application is in place then even better.

I thought Merstham would be a really tough game. I think they will go one step further than last season and make the top 5.
It was a tough test but I think when it mattered we produced the quality.

I hoped to use 3 products of our academy however young bobby Bennett fell I'll on the bench so just two played but again they did themselves proud.

It's clear some of the lads need more minutes but on a hot afternoon we can forgive those that looked a bit tired.

We still have work to do that's for sure. I'm looking out for good progress both as individuals and as a group on a match to match basis.

I think Slough will give us a good indication of our progress. It's the sort of encounter you want at this stage and a team of similar standing. I welcome Neil and Jon to Imber court and must congratulate them on winning promotion.

Having said that I'd like to think we can move up a notch regardless of the result but with injuries and two games on Thursday we need to be careful around team selection.

I'm all about making sure we have a fit strong squad come the first game of the season.
It's my job to hand Jim a squad of players ready to compete in the Ryman premier league.
