Back to back wins for the Met
The blues made it 6 from 6 to end the season with a flourish
Another hot sunny day saw Met having to withdraw Sam Williams before the start of the game due to illness. Aaron Goode was his replacement. The home side were clearly looking to bounce back following a heavy defeat in their last home game and the Met were under considerable pressure for the first 20 minutes as they were peppered with a series of corners. But gradually the Met began to have a greater influence in the game and three great chances were spurned as the half progressed. Despite their period of dominance it took a great block save by Luke Williams to ensure Met went in on level terms at half time.
Met dominated the second half with the home goal keeper called upon to make saves to keep the score goalless including a Jon Nurse lob being headed off the line. But on 79 minutes Jon Nurse got his just reward as he stole round the back of the home defence to head home unmarked from a Sam Gallagher free kick. Bayley Mummery might have doubled the score on 87 minutes but his shot went just wide. The final action of the half saw Jon Nurse turn an ankle and unable to carry on leaving Met to see out the game with only 10 men.
