Against a good footballing team like Four Corners we needed to hold on to the ball well today...which we didn't manage to do. Four Corners played nice football around us. We always looked the more likely to score, but gave possession away too easily & had to work far too hard. We came in 0-0 at half time, feeling frustrated at not being in front...we had a couple of chances but had failed to take them.
The second half started badly & got worse, we gave the ball away & conceded a bad goal early doors. Unfortunately we made very hard work of the second half in general, standing off the opposition & giving them time & space to play around us...the inevitable happened..a second goal & we never looked likely to pull one back.
It is very unlike us to be so disjointed...the break in games has done us no favours. But this is life in the MJPL, if you are not on your game - you will lose.
But we will regroup & go again in 2 week’s time - we are a much better team than we showed today & we will step up again quickly I am sure. It is still early days for us in the MJPL...there is a long way to go.
Special mention to Matt Motley
, who did very well when he came on, playing some nice football in the middle of the park, also to Joe C & Mike, who worked very hard to create openings, with a lot of good play, but were ultimately frustrated. The centre back partnership looked solid for most of the game - both Lewis & George tried to play football out from the back wherever possible. Both goalkeepers were largely untroubled...However, Ben & Jack T provided a solid base for the team to work from. Connor on his return from injury, probably had more of the game than planned due to injuries to other players, but covered lots of ground in an effort to provide an outlet up front. Matt Mowles
, Dolph, Tom, Shane, Pedro, Aaron, Jack R, worked really hard & put in a shift for the team, in what was a frustrating day for all of us - players & coaches alike!!
Chins up now lads - we will come back fighting in our next game!!!
