Penallta travel to Newtown RFC this weekend in the hope of a win which will seal a quick return to the Principality Stadium.

The Pitmen will have to overcome Nant Conwy on Saturday in the WRU National Plate semi-final if they are to reach their third final in this tournament.

This game will be a repeat of the Plate final of 2012 at the then named Millennium Stadium when Penallta edged out their North Walian opponents by 21-15.

The Caerphilly borough outfit will also be keen for a return to the stadium to erase the hearbreak of the final play loss to rivals Bedlinog in last seasons final.

Penallta have not had the easiest of routes to the final and have had to beat several league leaders. In the early rounds they beat fellow Division One East Clubs Caerleon (25-17) and Brecon (41-6) before dispatching Trerochy 36-9. They managed to get passed a very tricky Aberavon Quins side by 23-10 before beating old rivals Nelson 20-16 in a tense quarter final tie to earn their last four spot.

Nant Conwy have been fortunate to have four home draws on their route to the semi's and have beaten some very good sides. They dispatched Pontypool United 43-19 followed by Maesteg Quins 10-0. They shocked Rhydyfelin 17-12 before knocking out St Peters in the quarter final by 21-5.

Penallta currently occupy third spot in Division One East with twelve wins from fifteen starts whilst Nant Conwy lead Division One North after winning fifteen of their seventeen games.

The Mid District Rugby Union sends out their best wishes to all at Penallta RFC.

The winner of this fixture will play the successful Club in the other semi-final clash between Abercarn and Ystalyfera.
