MIDDLE GO TOP AS WELLS SMASHES 50
Middle Rasen bounced back from there 7 run defeat to Branston in great fashion.
Despite missing regulars Kevin Salmon,Dan Norburn and Chris Potter Middle welcomed new signing Kevin Miller into the side along with the returning Aaron Wells and Carl Robinson.
Winning a third consecutive toss skipper Richard Boryszczuk again elected to bowl first and again this proved a good decision. Darren Salmon opened up with Carl Robinsonand it was Salmon who made a breakthrough in the 3rd over removing the dangerous Chris Hogg for just 2.Middle didnt have to wait long to claim there next wicket when in the tenth over Carl Robinson removed both Jones and Baker for 3 and 0 with the latter being caught fantasticaly one handed diving catch from keeper Tom Bradford. With the score on24-3 Boryszczuk introduced himself and fellow spinner Ivan Nash into the attack .With some tight bowling and runs coming slowly as both were getting plenty of turn out of the pitch and often to much turn it was Nash who made a breakthrough just as Sutton and Geeson were starting to add a few runs.Geeson smashed the ball which looked to be heading for the boundary except debut man Kevin Miller made a fantastic running diving catch on the boundary to take the wicket and from here on Middle quickly brought and end to the innings of North Scarle.Sutton who was on 48 and looking the only real danger of scoring runs was calamitisly run out by tail ender Denton 2 short of his half century much to his anger. Nash then followed up taking another 3 wickets ending his excellant spell with 4-31 from his ten overs and Boryszczuk ending with 1-27.with just one wicket left Robinson was brought back minto the attack and took just 5 balls to bring the innings to an end as Nash caught Froggatt leaving Robinson with excellant figures of 3-9 and North Scarle 81 all out
With Potter unavailable there was a space opening the batting and Aaron Wells took the chance with open arms. Opening with Ivan Nash these to added 27 before Nash left a straight one and being bowled for 3.Middle then raced to 65 before they lost there next wicket when Wells who had smashed 52 of the runs was bowled after an explosive innings hitting five sixes and three fours including 1 six which was absolutly massive clearing the ground and ending up half way down the field behind the changing rooms at North Scarle. With just 16 needed to wrap up victory there was time for Salmon and Quinlan to both depart for 9 and 8 leaving Tom Bradford and Kevin Miller to see Middle comfortably home and moving them up to top of the league
