Midhurst and Easebourne U16’s 3 – Barnham Trojans Red 1
Midhurst welcomed Barnham Trojans red to the Rotherfield on this brisk January morning.
Both teams passed the ball well in the early stages of a very even first half, a first half that looked like ending in dead lock until George Bernett latched onto a fine free kick from Callum Dowdell to head the ball past the Barnham Keeper, Half time 1-0 Stags.
The young Stags got off to a flying start in the second half when Ollie Dennis steered the ball into the corner of the goal from close range with his unfavoured left foot. The Stags then started to show their superiority with a succession of chances but found it difficult to extend their lead.
A good spell of possession from the visitors mid way through the second half resulted in some fine saves from Patrick Cowell the Midhurst Goalkeeper who looked almost unbeatable .
Midhurst extended their lead with 15 minutes left on the clock, Callum Dowdell turned with his back to goal and guided a volley past the Barnham keeper to make it 3-0 Stags.
Barnham scored a consolation with only seconds remaining, leaving Cowell gutted in goal.
