Sheldrick was in great form and caused several problems down the right

Midhurst 0 - 0 Steyning

A well fought game between two good footballing teams saw an entertaining 0 - 0 draw at the Rotherfield on Saturday.

Dave Berkowitz made a couple of changes from the EP defeat seeing Stevens return at right back, Grantham and Hotson in at centre backs, Dormer returned into centre mid along with Hamilton on the left.

Although the 4 - 0 defeat looked bad in paper in the week Berkowitz was more than pleased with the teams work ethic and never give up attitude and more was needed against Steyning.

The stags duly obliged. From the offset they set out to press high on the visitors who liked to play from the back.

Sheldrick was in great form and caused several problems down the right hand side setting up a couple of chances for Norgate. Both chances were narrowly hit wide by the stags forward.

Midhurst resolve was true to see and Steyning were guilty of missing two guilt edge chances to go in front at the interval. Both times the visitors number 9 missed sitters from several yards out.

The second half produced some good football from both teams on a difficult surface.

Apart from a fine save by Cowell on 80 minutes there were no real goal threats with both teams cancelling each other out.

A thoroughly entertaining game from two fine football teams.
