Another positive of the evening was the return of Nathan Casselton

Lancing Res 0 - 2 Midhurst

For the second time this pre-season Midhurst had a game on an excellent playing surface, this time at the Sussex FA's 4G pitch at Lancing, and found it very much to their liking. Maybe, in years to come, there will be more pitches like this than the ones of conventional grass.
Playing decent football all over the pitch Midhurst could have taken the lead on several occasions in the first half but, as in previous pre-season friendlies, the cutting edge was noticeable only by it's absence. Good chances were not taken advantage of by Ant Kirby, Gary Norgate (twice), Nathan Hunt and Luke Sheldrick, resulting in a goalless first half. This was rectified after just two minutes of the 2nd half when, following Sheldrick's driven cross, Norgate forced the ball past the keeper. This score was doubled in the 56th minute when Scott Dormer dispossessed a defender just outside the box and drove the ball home for a 2-0 score line. At the other end the Midhurst defence, extremely well marshalled by George Morris, were rarely troubled. Another positive of the evening was the return of Nathan Casselton who had his first run-out since a shoulder injury that required surgery, which had been incurred in the penultimate game of last season.

Squad: Jeal, Hunt, Grantham, Morris, D.Towers, Watts, Hyde, Dormer, L.Hamilton, Norgate, Kirby, Broughton, O'Leary, Sheldrick and Casselton.
