It was trophy time in the Royal Mail Mid Wales Rugby League with pride of place going to the two Machynlleth sides
Machynlleth 1sts have retained the Division One title but only after a season-long battle with Llanidloes 1sts.
Both sides have stood out in the league and, after beating each other once, it looked as if the title would rest on points scored. The champions, however, took advantage of Llanidloes' surprising defeat by Aberystwyth and claimed the title by beating the coastal side 25-10 in their last match.
It was no more than the Machynlleth side deserved after scoring a phenomenal 334 points and conceding only 39 in their 10 league games.
After last season's disappointing finish in Division Two, Llandrindod Wells have taken the league by storm. The Radnorshire side, with a game against Welshpool remaining, have won all seven of their matches, scoring 232 points.
Llandrindod Wells are now looking forward to a crack at the first division title next season.
Machynlleth 2nds have emulated their 1st XV by comfortably winning the Division Three title. The side travel to Rhayader tomorrow for their last fixture, looking to extend their winning margin over Gwernyfed 3rds to four points.
