Milford Hall Juniors Cup victories

Having won the U15 County Cup for the first time in the club’s history in 2011, Milford Hall Juniors are looking at a possible treble in 2012.

The under 11s reached the County Cup Final by defeating Wolverhampton by 20 runs in the Semi Final. Milford batted first, scoring 292 net with Hayden Campbell top scoring with 19 and Joe Berks 15. Tight bowling and fielding all round restricted Wolverhampton to 272 net in reply. Milford Hall will play either Stone or Wightwick & Finchfield in the Final.

Milford Hall will face Leek in the U13 County Cup Final after an excellent victory away at Himley in the Semi Final. Milford batted first and posted a score of 123 for 1 off their 20 overs with James Davis, Josh Russell and Chris Becker all retiring on 30*. Despite a good start Himley never really threatened to pass the Milford score, particularly when Milford made the decision to take the pace off the ball by introducing the spin bowlers early. Aaron Afford, Rob Firth and James Davis all bowled tightly, slowing the Himley innings down and in the end Himley closed on 100 for 6. Milford’s bowling was supported by top class fielding and after the game the Himley coach commented that it was the best display of fielding he had seen from any team at this age group.

Having already beaten Tamworth and Meir Heath in earlier rounds, the under 15s will hope to make it three out of three into the County Cup Finals when they take on Dunstall at Milford on Monday 22nd June.

The 15s have already reached one cup Final this season and will play Hem Heath in the final of the Peter Gethin Cup. Victories over Checkley, Stone and Porthill Park took Milford into a semi Final with Meir Heath in which Milford batted first. Ismail Anwair 26* and Alex Urwin 22 helped Milford to a score of 115 for 9 in 20 overs. In reply, Meir Heath could only achieve 82 for 7
