Millom edge Thriller in Cumbria

Milford went in to this game with 18 1st team squad players unavailable and Its was a great effort by all the other players at the club who put their hand up and played for the club over the bank holiday weekend. what was so good was that despite having all these players unavailable we still managed to field 2 full squads for our 1st and reserves who managed a great result against Oulton Raiders 26-26.

We managed to finally get a team together for the long trip up to Cumbria with so many players injured it was always going to be a big ask to go and claim the 2 points despite Millom's poor start to the season.

Millom started like a express train run hard and also putting in big hits on our inexperienced side. Milford somehow managed to halt the train and scored 2 tries both by centre Dave Watmough both to wide out for Martin loveridge to and the goals Poor Milford defence lead to Millon taking a 12-8 half time lead.

The 2nd half started poorly for the Marlins with 2 more tries for Millom plus one conversion giving them a 22-8 lead. But the Marlins never say die attitude was always there and 2 tries by Fullback Matt Brocksom plus 2 touchline conversions by Martin Loveridge pulled the Marlins back to within 2 points. and a victory agains all the odds looked on. twice the Marlins got over the line and despite both of our players been convinced they had scored the officials waved the tries off. Great effort by the team and a great effort by the coaches and everyone involved in getting 2 teams out on to the pitch this weekend.
