MNJFC will review this policy (as with all policies) annually and assess its implementation and effectiveness. The policy will be promoted and implemented throughout the club.

Policy Statement

1.The aim of the anti-bullying policy is to ensure that all players develop in a safe, caring environment without the fear of being bullied. Bullying is an anti-social behaviour and affects everyone; it is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Only when all issues of bullying are addressed will players be able to fully benefit from the opportunities at MNJFC
2.Bullying is defined as deliberately hurtful behaviour, repeated over a period of time, where it is difficult for those being bullied to defend them. The three main types of bullying are;
a.Physical (hitting, kicking, theft)
b.Verbal (name calling, racist remarks)
c.Indirect (spreading rumours, excluding someone from social groups)
3.Players who are being bullied may show changes in behaviour, such as becoming shy and nervous, feigning illness, missing training and/or games.
4.Players must be encouraged to report bullying to team managers or the Club Welfare Officer
5.The following steps will be taken when dealing with incidences of bullying:
a.If bullying is suspected or reported, the incident will be dealt with immediately by the team manager
b.A clear account of the incident will be recorded and, if not resolved by the team manager, will be dealt with by The Executive Committee.
c.Punitive measures will be used as appropriate and in consultation with all parties concerned.
Players who have been bullied will be supported by;
oOffering an immediate opportunity to discuss the experience with the team manager.
oReassuring the player.
oOffering continuous support.
oRestoring self-esteem.
Players who have bullied will be helped by;
oDiscussing what happened.
oDiscovering why the player became involved.
oEstablishing the wrongdoing and need to change.
oInforming the parents/carers to help change the attitude of the player.
The following disciplinary steps can be taken;
oOfficial warnings to cease offending.
oExclusion from certain club activities e.g; matches, social events.
oPermanent exclusion from the club
