As we enter the 15th year since the inception of our Touch Rugby section, MRFC Director J-P Corry has decided that now is the time to step aside and hand over the reins in readiness for the next generation.
J-P will work in an advisory capacity with Club President Julian Athawes during a transition period. Julian will run the Touch section for an interim period, when it is planned to establish some new structures in line with work undertaken in the Senior section.
As you may know, J-P has been battling with a health challenge for a while now. The good news is he’s well on the way to a strong recovery after a few operations. He is now focused on his recuperation and as J-P says, with no small hint of irony, “now is a good time to introduce new blood”.
There are a handful of people who have been instrumental in building our wonderful club. J-P is part of that core group and we would like to thank him for the unstinting effort and energy he has given to our club.
Some notable contributions:
o Land and Clubhouse
o Significant Fundraising
o Significant Sponsorship
o Created a thriving, inclusive section from nothing which has welcomed upwards of 200 people
o Building the profile of the club
o Gloucestershire’s 1st O2 Touch centre
We wish J-P the best for his continued recovery and we look forward to his continued presence as a valued member of Minchinhampton RFC.
