Mold Part Company With Lewis Buckley

Mold Alex can confirm that Lewis Buckley was this week transferred to Llandudno FC and will therefore miss this weekends local derby against Buckley.

Lewis joined the Alex in September 2013 and helped the club win the 2013/14 Welsh National League ending the season as leading goalscorer.

This season due to injury and suspension his season didn't really start until the visit to Rhayader and he helped the club embark on a great run of form and progress to the quarter finals of the NEWFA Cup.

Lewis had a special message for the club, staff, players and supporters:

"I would like to say how thankful I am to the players and staff for everything they have done for me over the last 2 years. I couldn't have asked for a better set of players, coaches or manager. I'm going to miss everything and everyone so much but I see this as a chance to help Llandudno win the league and play in the Welsh Premier League. I'm totally gutted to be leaving and it's been hard to make this decision but it's a huge opportunity for me."

Manager Sean Rogers added:

"On behalf of everyone at Mold Alex we all wish Lewis the very best. He's a fantastic man, father and footballer and we will miss him not being at the club. Lewis gave me and the club a chance in 2013 and he's been good to us and I think the players and staff have been good for Lewis. On a personal level he's been part of a squad that helped get me through some very dark and tough times and I will never forget what the lads did for me, Lewis included. I'm very proud to have been his manager.

Lewis would be the first to say we are not a one man team and he was a part of a very exciting side we are building. Lewis leaving hasn't and won't change that. The staff and I keep a very detailed database of players in England and Wales and we will assess whether we need to make any signings this week. We have a very strong squad and we will only make a move if top quality players are available."
