The Alex were outworked in their own backyard and paid the penalty for a sloppy performance

After 5 wins on the bounce earned through greater work rate and teamwork The Alex went backwards today against Llay Welfare.
The signs were not good from the off as Mold looked sluggish and failed to put any number of passes together. On top of this individual errors crept in and Mold only showed the occasional glimpse of their recent form in the 1st 40 mins. But just as has happened on a number of occasions this season The Alex did not battle through to the break and the visitors grabbed the opening goal of the game in 1st half injury time.
The start of the 2nd half was a bit better but The Alex failed to capitalise on their territorial and possessional dominance and as the half progressed Llay looked dangerous on the break. Both sides had good chances to get the next goal but some good goalkeeping and poor finishing kept it at 0-1. However Mold did get on level terms when Alex Weatherby headed home with 15 mins left. Mold should have seen the game out but an increasing number of mistakes and poor decision making allowed Llay to get on the front foot again and they caused the home defence a number of problems. The visitors were rewarded for their high work rate when yet another mistake in the Mold defence gifted an opportunity to the Llay striker that he took well to put his side back in front. There was still time for Mold to have a couple more attempts at goal, and scares at the back, but the match finished with the victory belonging to the visitors, and with Mold's 5 game winning streak coming to an end.
The Alex have to put this poor display behind them and get back to what they have been doing well. Brickfield Rangers are the opponents next week and only a much improved performance will do for Mold to get anything from the game
