Vets Tournament A Huge Success

The Vets Football Tournament in memory of Kath Griffiths which took place on Sunday 22nd May proved to be a great success.

Although the weather tried to dampen the day, the quality veterans football on display kept the spectators minds on the action and off the weather.

Mold Alex would like to thank all the 11 teams who competed for the coveted trophy and played their part in a friendly yet competitive tournament. The eventual winners were Saltney Vets who overcame They Think It's (Moldova) in a tense final.

The tournament saw two strong groups of teams which saw each team play the opposition once. Saltney Vets won Group A with They Think It's (Moldova) finishing runners up. In Group B reigning champions Llangefni Lads finished top with surprise package Northophall Old Boys finishing runners up.

In the semi finals, Llangefni went out to a shock 1-0 defeat to They Think It's (Moldova) while Saltney Vets showed their class beating Northophall Old Boys 4-1.
