Haydn Cooper injured during the game - best wishes from all at Mold

"Everyone at the clubs best wishes are sent to Haydn Cooper who broke his jaw during the game challenging for a header from a corner. No blame is attached to their keeper it was one of those things sadly. Haydn has been one of our best players this year and sadly his bravery has resulted in him suffering a broken jaw. Our Physio Peter was magnificent in assessing him and sending him to hospital immediately. Elliot Power, who was blameless, got in touch with me straight after the game to pass on his best wishes directly to Haydn which is a lovely gesture and shows a lot of class so thank you to him also. Obviously it leaves everyone at the club feeling numb and wishing Haydn a speedy recovery.

In respect of the game I'm not sure I've felt more disappointed and angry with a result.

My backroom staff and I prepared the players thoroughly and we got their side, tactics and strengths and weaknesses spot on. When we followed the game plan we had great success.

The first twenty minutes were very tight and with us being away from home it looked like one of those games where you take 0-0 at half time and then the game opens up second half. We missed a fantastic chance in the first two minutes and sadly the type of finishing we had worked on for this game wasn't seen until the second half.

The first goal we concede is a disgrace. A complete embarrassment from our own goal kick. What we were trying to do is not what we want to do and it showed an incredible lack of game intelligence. It was completely unacceptable and a gift.
Haydn got injured soon after the goal which obviously is hard to respond to so it was a case of just closing the game down and getting in to half time.
I thought we had steadied the ship and could get in to half time one down but we conceded an awful second goal. There centre back had a shocking touch which we should have pounced on but he walked through two tackles and we gave a very silly penalty away.

Denbigh are one of the form teams in the whole of Wales and to go away from home and gift them a two nil lead was infuriating and disappointing in equal measure.

The positives are that the players showed a fantastic attitude and spirit as well as ability in getting back in to the game and drawing level with twenty minutes still to play. The substitutes made a great impact.

Sadly we make an individual mistake from a long ball, just one player switching off, and we were punished ten minutes from time. That lack of concentration and ruthlessness, as in the first half, cost us.

Again not many sides could lift themselves but the lads did and they created two great chances late on but sadly we missed the target with each.

For me their was nothing between the sides but we were not ruthless enough in each area and they were more ruthless in each area on the night.

We knew that this season would be very tight games decided by mistakes and ruthlessness in the opposition area. Sadly tonight that was where we were lacking.

We've had the toughest start of any side with 7 of our 8 league games being away and this game coming three days after a physically bruising long away trip in the Cup but that is no excuse.

It means we need to turn Alyn Park in to a fortress and we have a huge advantage knowing 14 of the next 22 games are at home.

Luckily the league is still very tight and we had just gone four games unbeaten going on to this fixture.

We need to show much greater game intelligence, more ruthlessness in each area and the team need to play to instruction for the whole game not just parts of it.

The lads are hurting as their efforts and performance in general deserved a lot more than what they got and I can guarantee a positive reaction on Saturday against Holywell."
